Talent Line-up Released for Lincoln Memorial Inauguration Event

I am so excited that I live in DC!  I will be at the Lincoln memorial front and center.  Oh my goodness, Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige, John Legend, Beyonce, Herbie Hancock, Usher, Will.i.am, Jamie Foxx, and good Lord…Denzel Washington.  I will be there.  If it was just Stevie Wonder, it would be a treat, but with the line up they have planned it’s going to be a Celebration.  Here are the details.

Be there Sunday, January 18th!  The event will be free and open to the public.

SNL: Beyonce Single Ladies Skit with Justin Timberlake

LOL LOL! My God this is too funny. I loved this skit. Beyonce was very good and Justin was too funny.

Note: I posted this with a DailyMotion link and it got shut down.  Apparently the video is getting taken off of YouTube too…I don’t know why they didn’t post it to the NBC site.  We’ll see how long this one stays up.

Jay-Z and Beyonce Marriage Rumors are the talk of the Black Blogosphere

Here’s what I heard…

There was a swirl of activity Friday at the rap mogul’s Tribeca apartment. Delivery trucks funneled in and out of the building, dropping off silver candelabras and white flowers. A white tent was set up on the roof, and stars including Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, were spotted.

A swarm of media camped outside the building was in a state of frenzy, snapping and shouting at any sport-utility vehicle that drove down the cobblestone street. They caught Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, a friend of Knowles, arriving. TMZ even streamed the action live on their Web site – until their battery ran out.

Gossip sites showed photos of orchids being delivered to the building and a tent set up on what was said to be the balcony of Carter’s home.

E! News quoted the owner of Amy’s Orchids in Thailand as saying her company shipped orchids to New York for Knowles’ and Carter’s wedding Friday. A designer in the city used 60,000 orchids to create “eight-foot garlands that hung down from the ceiling to make the location look like an orchid palace.”

The Web sites of People and Us Weekly reported the couple married and threw a lavish but small party at the apartment Friday, citing unnamed sources who are friends with the pair. A source told People.com that singer Beyonce Knowles, 26, and rapper Jay-Z, 38, tied the knot early Friday evening, and then celebrated with a party at the rapper’s home.

The Web sites reported their families attended the party. The Web site AllHipHop.com wrote that “an extremely close source” said the couple were indeed husband and wife. As of Saturday evening there was still no official confirmation that the couple were married.

Rumors circulated all week about the event after a report that the couple had taken out a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y. Representatives for Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z declined to comment on reports ahead of the event. Jay-Z’s publicist had no comment Saturday. Some skeptics said that the event might have simply been a celebration of the $150 million deal Carter made with Live Nation earlier this week.

“The Grammys” was like a Black Family Reunion

Aretha Franklin, Bebe Winans, the Clark Sistas, and Isreal and New Breed…they went in with the shouting music. Old school New Orleans Jazz Gospel…those old men were playing those trombones!
Kanye’s tribute to his mom (he still can’t sing). That was lovely!

That singing black boy (sorry, i don’t know this actor’s name. Someone let me know who he is.) who died in “Across the Universe” singing “Let it be”…I really felt that! That old black woman was sangin’!

Beyonce singing with Tina Turner (some one is picking up weight).

Alicia singing with Frank…and you know Frank loved him some Coloreds.

Little Richard…your flamboyant uncle who couldn’t come out because of…well we know why. Rhinestones, darling…”whooooooooooooooo hooo!”

And of Course….Amy Winehouse as the crazy light-skinned cousin/white girl that married into the family. Wait, no the Michael Jackson tribute (I don’t remember seeing it…did it happen???) covers the crazy light-skinned cousin role. Sorry, my bad. LOL

Loved it. You just know Jimmy Jam as Chairman of the Academy had a lot to do with all of those African American faces, ya dig! Better than past years. I think this was a good 50th celebration. Can’t wait to see all of the blog reviews and youtube clips to come.

Oh, since Herbie Hancock beat Amy Winehouse…this was an authentic Grammy celebration!

Another Movie for Beyonce

Etta James was a pleasantly plump woman in her heyday (she’s currently slim), is Bey going to get to let her “natural weight” shine and hips get bigger for this movie? I’ve always said that in her heart (and from the size of her knees…she’s got big girl knees.)  Beyonce will always be a classic “cute in the face, small in the waist” and huge in the hips and butt kind of chick.

While speaking to Cedric the Entertainer on his latest film, ‘Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins’, he mentioned to blackfilm.com that Beyonce has been cast to play famed singer Etta James on his next film, ‘Cadillac Records’.  The story is about Leonard Chess, the legendary founder of the South Side Chicago blues label Chess Records. The period piece follows the rise and fall of Chess Records, which launched the careers of such R&B greats as Muddy Waters, Etta James and Chuck Berry. – BlackVoices

Adrien Brody will be playing Chess.

This lil boy has watched too much Beyonce!

Nothing is wrong with men dancing…I have a friend who studied at Alvin Alley.  However, I hope this young man has some male role models as well.  He is getting it…dancing just like the video
