Chicago Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., is the anonymous “Senate Candidate No. 5” whose emissaries Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich reportedly offered up to $1 million to name him to the U.S. Senate, federal law enforcement sources tell ABC News.
Dag, LIL Jesse! First your dad gets caught on Fox discussing castration and now this. This Jackson Family is making the other Jackson Family look better and better every day.
“Senate Candidate No. 5” played a key role in the governor’s efforts to obtain something of value in exchange for the Senate appointment, according to the FBI affidavit.
According to the affidavit, Blagojevich threatened to appoint Senate Candidate No. 5 if President-elect Obama refused to help get his wife on “paid corporate boards right now.”
“If they feel like they can do this and not f– give me anything then I’ll f– go [Senate Candidate 5].”

John McCain called Wednesday for the first presidential debate, scheduled for Friday in Mississippi, to be delayed (to Oct 2 in St. Louis from what Politico is saying…isn’t that supposed to be the VP debate date? Crafty, John, crafty. They would have to reschedule that too.) and urged Barack Obama to join him in Washington for a high-level meeting of congressional leaders to address the financial crisis. Obama responded that the debate should go on.
He also scrapped a planned appearance on David Letterman. Letterman was not having that. Um…did you not realize that he would see you taping an interview with Katie Couric after your girl, Sarah, tripped up and called our current economic mess what is really is…The Second Great Depression…2008 style?? Dumb. I agree with Letterman. You don’t suspend your campaign…you let your VP soldier on…oh wait…you can’t trust her. She can’t talk to the press without talking points. Oh well!
Meanwhile, President Bush has invited both men to come to the White House today for a summit meeting with congressional leadership. He needs to invite Warren Buffet (McCain suggested this…and I agree with him on that at least).
Obama rebuffed the proposal… “It’s my belief that this is exactly the time the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible with dealing with this mess,” he told reporters in Florida, where he has been prepping for Friday’s event. “What I think is important is that we don’t suddenly infuse Capitol Hill with presidential politics,” he said.
He also took a real shot at McCain: “Presidents are going to have to deal with more than one thing at a time,” Obama said. “It’s not necessary for us to think that we can do only one thing, and suspend everything else.”
Multitasking, John. Multitasking!! You were in the military…Good Grief!
Debate organizers also said they have no plans to postpone. “We have been notified by the Commission on Presidential Debates that we are proceeding as scheduled,” said the University of Mississippi, which was to host Friday’s encounter. “We are ready to host the debate, and we expect the debate to occur as planned,” Ole Miss said in a statement. Um…I think this from TV ad John McCain is great (video below). It will run tonight before and after Obama’s historic speech at the DNC. It’s good that McCain recognizes the significance of this day, but McCain voted against the MLK holiday in Arizona in 1983! Right?!?! Yes!!! That is so ironic! Do you really understand the significance of this day when you had an issue with giving the most significant man in this equation his own day?!?!? Oh yes, he’s changed his mind now…sure, sure, he understands he was wrong. OK, but it’s still ironic. Don’t you think?
Spin Cycle has the details – “McCain will attempt to be make nice before he performs the widely speculated act of naming his vice president running mate some time Friday to counteract any boost in the polls for Obama.”

I love this shirt!!! (If you’re in Denver, you can get the shirt at THE 400) Obama for 2…no Obama for it all. He shoots he scores. In your FACE, McCAIN!!! Slam Dunk!! I’ts called the O-Face T-Shirt and I’m buying one online TODAY. Spike so looked like the black radical we love wearing that shirt. He said he bought the tee in Denver and had to walk 5 miles to get it once he saw it. Now that Spike Lee has worn this UNDRCRWN shirt it on national TV, it’s going to be sported all over (and most likely bootlegged and copied).
Here’s the video of Spike Lee on MSNBC
From hypebeast.com: “UNDRCRWN are the latest to pay homage as the basketball inspired label takes an unforgettable moment in basketball history and makes it distinctly Obama. Teaming up with Karmaloop and Denver retailer The 400, this t-shirt will be presented at this year’s Democratic National Convention in Denver. The inspiration if not immediately evident is based on Vince Carter’s spectacular Dunk over 7 foot something Frenchman Weiss back in 2000. The t-shirt’s sale will benefit local charities looking to improve inner city youth participation in sports.”

DENVER, Colorado (AFP) — Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama faces “no credible threat” from what had appeared to be a plot on his life, CNN reported Tuesday, citing authorities who nevertheless are pressing on with their investigation.
The network reported that office of the United States Attorney said law enforcement officials are “absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate.”
Four people were arrested Monday in Denver and charged with firearms and drug possession, amid fears of a plot to kill Obama.
Denver-based CBS34 said one of the men arrested had told authorities they were “going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using … a rifle … sighted at 750 yards (meters).”
The shooting was supposed to happen on Thursday when Obama is scheduled to accept the nomination as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate for the November elections at the 75,000-seat Invesco stadium, the television station reported.
The alleged plot was being investigated by the Secret Service, which is in charge of coordinating security for the Democratic Party convention as well as the FBI and the joint terrorism task force.
The US Attorney’s Office in Denver has scheduled a press conference on Tuesday to discuss the incident.
CBS34 also reported that one man was arrested on Sunday after police found two high-powered rifles in a rented pick-up truck he was driving, while another man in custody reportedly was wearing a swastika and was thought to have links to white supremacist groups. Continue reading

For former Bush mastermind Karl Rove to portray Obama as a Gatsby-esque smoothie, as he did to a group of DC Republicans the other day, was a fascinating piece of race and class voodoo. “Even if you never met him,” Rove said, “You know this guy. He’s the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by.”
No wonder his wife’s so mad.
Rove’s comment translates in tactical terms as the weirdly implausible, “If we can’t portray him as an angry black man, what the hell — we’ll portray him as a privileged, elitist, white man.”
Wow…very telling. So what do you think of the translation?
Is it just me or was Hillary’s exit completely ungracious? What does she mean by “suspend” her campaign?
Eh…she’s out. I will try not to talk bad about her anymore and just move foward.
Yes We CAN!
