Never Can Say Goodbye: RIP Michael Jackson

I’m in shock.  Really.  Michael Jackson has died today, so suddenly.  It’s a shame.

I was on the Metro (Red Line…I’m never scared) around 5:45 and I heard someone say “Michael Jackson died”.  Well that just sounded like craziness.  There was a quick rebuttal from another random passenger saying, “NO, he just went into cardiac arrest.”  While losing all function of your heart is no simple matter and from what I hear 90% of the time leads to coma or death…The thought that came to my mind was “OH, that’s all. Mike will be alright”.  I went on to the gym and was greeted by CNN’s coverage.  At the time, they hadn’t confirmed Jackson’s death and were quoting the LA Times and AP Wire.  In an interview on CNN, Brian Osman (Jackson Family spokesperson) basically compared Jackson’s situation to Anna Nicole in terms of drug abuse.  Heavy allegations.  That’s serious.  Shortly after that, the LA coroner’s office confirmed Michael Jackson died today at the age of 50.

Somebody tell me this is just a publicity stunt.  Somebody roll the secret footage.

Damn.  The King is dead.  No comeback album.  No colabo with Prince, or Beyonce, or the Jonas Brothers.  Damn.  This is worse than Luther.   If Stevie Wonder goes anytime soon, I’m not going to make it.

Rest in Peace, Michael.  I never will say goodbye.  “Though I try and try to hide my feelings, they always seem to show…don’t wanna let you go…”

Sidenote: [Updated: In the last 24 hours over 70,000] people have come to this site today and viewed the post on Michael Jackson’s children (one of our most popular posts).  Why?  I have no clue.  Keywords make the world go round I guess.

(CNN) — Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives, died Wednesday after suffering an aneurysm, medical officials said.

Tubbs Jones, who was in her fifth term representing parts of Cleveland and its suburbs, was 58.

She suffered the aneurysm Tuesday evening while driving in her home district in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, a statement from her office said.

She was rushed to East Cleveland’s Huron Hospital, where a team of doctors determined Wednesday morning that she had “very limited brain function,” said Dr. Gus Kious, the hospital’s chief of staff.

Wednesday afternoon, before Tubbs Jonesdied, Kious said that the aneurysm “an inaccessible part of her brain” and that she was in critical condition.

The congresswoman had a full day of activity Tuesday, according to the statement from her office, “including planning for an upcoming forum on electoral reform, scheduled for September 4, 2008, at Cleveland State University.”

Tubbs Jones, elected to Congress in 1998, would have turned 59 on September 10.

She was an early supporter of Clinton’s White House bid but endorsed Barack Obama in June after the New York senator bowed out of the race.

Tubbs Jones was a Democratic superdelegate and one of Hillary Clinton’s most ardent supporters. She was scheduled to attend the Democratic National Convention next week in Denver, Colorado.

Bernie Mac died today at 50

The Associated Press is reporting that Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian Bernie Mac died Saturday at age 50.

Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital,” his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles.

She said no other details were available and asked that his family’s privacy be respected.

The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.

We send out well wishes and prayers to his family and loved ones. RIP Bernie!

RIP Sean Levert

Love goes out to the Levert family as they have lost another son, Sean.  One of three members of the R&B trio LeVert and son of O’Jays singer Eddie Levert, has died after falling ill while serving a jail term for approx. $85,000 in owed child support (non-support). He was 39.Levert was sent to the Cuyahoga County jail last week for failing to pay child support. He died at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland late Sunday, less than an hour after he was taken there from the jail.

His brother Gerald Levert, died in 2006 at age 40 of an accidental mix of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

From what I understand his sentence was 1 year and 10 months.  I didn’t even know they would give you that much time for child support!!!  AND…from what I’ve been told…you still owe the money when you get out.  My question though, with all due respect, is, “Why didn’t his family just pay the bill?”

Four young men charged with killing Redskin Sean Taylor

While four young men charged with killing the Washington Redskins star safety sat in jail cells on the other side of the state there was a packed wake at Second Baptist Church on Sunday.

Wearing a dark suit, Taylor was in a wooden coffin, surrounded by flower arrangements and heralded by a church choir. Hundreds of mourners filed by him, bowing their heads, crossing themselves and shaking with tears.

The remembrances came only hours after a fourth man charged in the shooting death of the 24-year-old Taylor appeared briefly in court and, like his co-defendants, was denied bond.

Jason Mitchell, 19, appeared via videoconference in a Fort Myers courtroom, about 100 miles from here. Dressed in an orange jumpsuit, he responded quietly when asked if he understood the charges. “He looks like he’s in shock,” said Sawyer Smith, one of his attorneys.

Three others — Eric Rivera, 17; Charles Wardlow, 18; and Venjah Hunte, 20 — made their first court appearance Saturday.

All four have been charged with unpremeditated murder, home invasion with a firearm or another deadly weapon and armed burglary. They will be transported to Miami, though authorities haven’t said when.

Probable cause affidavits for Mitchell and Rivera obtained by The Associated Press said the two confessed to participating in armed burglary. According to the reports, Mitchell and Rivera admitted entering the home and said someone had a gun and shot Taylor, but they didn’t identify who. Police and attorneys also have said some of the young men confessed, though they wouldn’t elaborate.
